Software testing and quality assurances are nearly, but not completely, the same fields of work. Both of the practices have their advantages and benefits in the software development lifecycle, though.
With the rise in technologies and trends of literally living in the cloud, security of application can be ensured with the right blend of software testing and QA. While there are many prospects for the professionals interested in the software testing area, we are listing some of the most helpful browser extensions that software testers use. These extensions and plug-ins increase your efficiency of testing and help you conduct tests more accurately.
1. Link Checker:
This tool checks all your links on the web page and identifies the broken ones and reports back to you. It highlights valid links and those broken things. It is an extension developed primarily for web designers, testers and content developers. For broken links, a complete HTTP error code with error messages is displayed on the console log on.Add paragraph text here.
2. JIRA Assistant:
In a separate tab on the Jira Assistant dashboard, the extension imports all of your most favorite filters. It shows the count of issues for separate filters and helps log the work for any issue. The extension allows you to create, assign, and resolve JIRA issues with ease.
3. Screen Ruler:
With this extension, you can measure an object's dimensions by placing a ruler over it. The height, width, and padding on either sides of an object can be easily measured for testing of the UI interface developed by a developer. A pixel-perfect web application can be built if a web UI tester gets to test the UI for the defects that are not easily visible otherwise. The ruler can be placed on any page, can be resized by dragging, or can be altered for precision from a toolbar that comes along with the extension.
4. WhatFont:
At some point, the testers have the task of testing the aesthetics of the web UI and finding out which family and font sizes are used on each web page of the website project. The extension allows its users to inspect the fonts on a web page by simply hovering over the text displayed. Moreover, the extension also detects the services that were used to serve the web fonts and supports Typekit and Google Font API.
5. PerfectPixel:
If you are a perfectionist tester and want the application under your hands to be pixel-perfect according to the designing specifications, this extension is for you. It allows you to place a semi-transparent overlay on your web page and make matching comparisons with each pixel layer. This extension is Ad-supported, though ads are only injected into the extension panel. But if it is a distraction to you, you can go ahead and disable them.
6. Javascript error notifier:
When the notification icon is clicked, this extension shows the error message and the source of the error. Error sources in the popup are clickable and the extension shows details of the errors in the notification popup. The extension does not override the user-defined error handler and copies the error details to the clipboard.
7. Wave evaluation tool:
It is a web accessibility evaluation tool that provides useful advice and insight on the same. Human evaluation is facilitated by this tool and it educates the user about accessibility issues in their web software. It provides visual feedback as opposed to detailed reports. It marks the web page with icons and indicators to tell you of the inaccessible areas.
